ABOUT US
Acorn Street Shop was established in 1979 and began as a New England country store in nearby University Village Shopping Center. Soon the needlework department took over and Acorn Street became a full-fledged needlework shop. The shop has been under current ownership since 1986. In 1992, the business moved to its present location, just north of the U-Village, and the needlework merchandise has expanded to fill the old building up to its 15 foot ceilings!
Acorn Street Shop is a great place for those who love knitting, crochet, spinning and needlepoint.
KNITTING AND CROCHET
For knitting and crochet, we have an extensive supply of yarns including wool, cotton, silk, linen and bamboo. Needles and hooks are offered in several materials.
SPINNING
Spinning fibers include New Zealand wools, Merino Top, and Merino/Silk blends. We carry drop spindles from Ashford, Louet, and Cascade Spindle Company along with an Ashford Traveler spinning wheel on hand for demonstrations. We can order any model that you desire from the Ashford line.
NEEDLEPOINT
If needlepoint is your craft of choice, we have hand-painted and blank mono canvas, a large selection of Paternayan wool, cotton floss, and novelties.
BOOKS AND PATTERNS
Our library includes many new titles for your inspiration as well as our favorite classics and great books for instruction and technique.
Whether you are new to your craft or quite familiar, we offer a variety of classes to enhance your skills. If what you wish to learn is not available on the current schedule or does not fit into your week, consider a private class.
