YARNS-A-WEIGH
During the month of April we are collecting yarn for charity. Bring your old and unloved yarn into the shop, we will weigh it and you will get $1.00 in store credit for every pound you donate.
In the past we have donated the yarn collected to charities such as churches, the Red Cross, retirement centers and charity knitting groups. This year we have lined up several deserving charities to put your donations to good use. During YARNS-A-WEIGH in 2010, we collected over 1,000 pounds — let's break the record this year!

Project LinusProject Linus, since its inception in 1995, has distributed over three million blankets to children in need. Hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States comprise the organization. Each volunteer and local chapter work together to help achieve a mission which is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers." Acorn Street shop is a drop off location for Project Linus baby blankets. Baby blanket donations dropped off at Acorn Street Shop have been well received in our community for many years.
