This workshop features Julie Weisenberger’s renowned method of top-down set-in sleeve sweater construction, yielding what we consider to be the perfect fit for all body types. This innovative method focuses on knitting a well-fitting sweater in a step-by-step way, with clear instructions and examples at each step. We will even be joined by “virtual Julie” at times thanks to her helpful video series. All students will knit the same sweater pattern (Emma Version A, B, or C from the Cocoknits Sweater Workshop book) in their choice of yarn. The class will be taught over two sessions, allowing time to practice techniques and work on the sweater between classes. Early sign-up is suggested as there are a limited number of seats available for the class.

 

Materials for class

• Book: Cocoknits Sweater Workshop by Julie Weisenberger
• Bulky weight yarn in yardage required to knit your preferred version of Emma (Version A, B, or C) at stated gauge (see pages 58-59 in book)
• Cocoknits Colored Ring Stitch Markers
• US 11 (8mm) 24” or 32” circular needles, or size used to obtain gauge
• 40” circular needle in same size as gauge needle for working Modified Magic Loop (optional)
• Small DPN or circular needle in US 0-3 (2-3.5mm) range for picking up stitches
• VERSION C ONLY: US 2 (2.75mm) and US 9 (5.5mm) 40” circular needles for working front band stitches
• Flexible stitch holders or waste yarn for putting sleeve stitches on hold
• Scrap yarn for practicing techniques (optional)

 

Homework

• Make a gauge swatch approximately 6-8” square with your bulky sweater yarn getting a gauge of 3-3.5 stitches/inch per the pattern
• Practice the KLL, KRL, PLL and PRL increases. Instructions are included in the back of the Cocoknits Sweater Workshop book and technique videos can be found on the Cocoknits YouTube channel.
