Ready to tackle cables, all while learning how to magically knit in the round on one long circular needle? This class will teach you how, and more! During this three-session class students will complete a pair of Harriet Mitts while reviewing a few basic techniques, and building some new skills:

• The basics of yarn and needle choice
• Gauge: What is it, how do we check it, and do we really need it?
• How to read a pattern and helpful tricks to keep your place
• Knitting skills review: Long tail cast-on, knit and purl stitches, binding off
• Mirrored Increases: right and left leaning increases
• Cable Essentials: right and left leaning cables
• Knitting in the round: Magic Loop method or double pointed needles
• Fixing common mistakes: Picking up dropped stitches in knit and purl, and "Tinking" or unknitting
• Finishing a project: You put all that time into knitting, aren't we done yet?! Nope :-) This class will cover sewing in ends, washing and blocking finished projects
• Ravelry: Do we really need an account?  How do we navigate Ravelry and what are the benefits of learning to use this free platform

• The Harriet Mitts pattern ($5.00 and available on Ravelry through Acorn Street Shop)
• 1 skein worsted-weight yarn, 150 yards minimum
• Needles needed to get gauge (pattern suggests US #8 (5.00 mm) 40" circular or double pointed needles)
• Cable needle
• Stitch markers
• Stitch holder for thumb stitches
• Handi Tool for picking up stitches (optional)
• Notebook and pen
• Wool wash
