Skills Builder - Mirrored Increases and Decreases

Mirrored increases and decreases are essential techniques used when shaping fabric.  You will find them incorporated into hats, mittens, socks, garments and much more.  Students in this class will make adorable little hearts filled with lavender and wool while at the same time learning these indispensable techniques.  Specifically this class will cover:

  • Judy's Magic Cast On for going in the round when casting on in the center of your project
  • How and why to work a M1L, M1R, SSK, and K2TOG
  • Which of these methods are appropriate for an optimal finished effect
  • How to recognize these stitches in a knit fabric
  • Approximately 80 yards of DK weight yarn in a light color; a great option is Knitted Wit Double Bubbles.
  • US #5 (3.75 mm) 32" circular needles for the Magic Loop method or a set of 5 double pointed needles
  • Safety pin style stitch markers
  • Darning needle for weaving in ends
  • Notebook and pen for taking notes
Instructor will provide:
  • Palpitation Pattern by Hunter Hammersen ($12 value)
  • Wool stuffing
  • Lavender (optional)

Requirements: Students should be comfortable knitting in the round with the method of their choice. This class is a great follow up to Skills Builder - Magic Loop.
