Takli Spindles for Handspinning

Supported spindles are designed to spin while resting on a table or in a bowl. Taklis, small metal spindles from India which spin very fast and true, make the spinning of short, stable fibers (cotton and cashmere) a delight. $12.

Acorn Street also has drop spindles plus packets of various fibers for your handspinning projects. Fibers include cashmere, wool and silk.

Cascade Spindle Company is a local company specializing in beautiful woods in various designs.

Mt. Baker's is rim-weighted, ranging from 1 oz. to 1 3/8 oz.
Cougar is a petite, lightweight spindle approximately .5 oz.
Little Si is a well-balanced beginner's spindle approximately 1 1/2 oz.
Pilchuck is designed as the ultimate plying spindle, and for spinning designer yarns.
Cascade's "signature" spindle, the Rainier is rim-weighted and ranges from 7/8 oz to 1 3/8 oz.
The Shasta is small (3/8 oz to 3/4 oz) with an ability to spin medium to very fine fibers.
Another rim-weighted model, the Shuksan ranges from 1 to 1 3/8 oz.
A one of a kind collector's spindle, the St. Helen's ranges from 3/4 oz. to 1 oz.
