Beginning Knitting 101



Ready to learn how to knit? If you answered yes, this Beginning Knitting class is for you! During this three-session class students will complete a simple dish cloth (or two or three!) while covering everything a beginning knitter needs to know, such as:

  • Yarn and needle choice
  • Cast on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, binding off
  • Finishing a project, weaving in ends and blocking
  • Tips for useful tools
  • How to read a pattern
  • Knitting references
  • Best practices for taking care of your body while knitting
  • All about Ravelry (a website for crafters)
Skills Required: 
  • Humor!
  • Persistence! 
Materials to Purchase:
  • One skein Coastal Cotton by Queensland Collection (not too dark of a color so you can see your stitches and rows)
  • One set US8 (5.0 mm) circular or straight knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Paper and pencil for note taking
Age minimum - Sixteen years of age
Class minimum - 3 students
If the class minimum is not met, students will be notified prior to the class start date and a full refund will be given.
