Learn To Knit A Hat!



You've mastered casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off, and you're ready to take your knitting to the next level? Then this is the class for you! During this two session class you will complete a beanie while learning to knit in the round, decrease and build on the skills you have already learned. Here is what to expect from this class:
  • Beginning knitting skills review, knit and purl stitches
  • Swatching, how and why
  • Reading a pattern, pattern modifications
  • knitting in the round
  • Ribbing
  • Mirrored Decreases
  • Double pointed needles or magic loop for small circumference knitting
  • Reading your stitches, fixing common mistakes, picking up dropped stitches
  • Tinking (aka unknitting 1 stitch at a time)
  • Finishing, weaving in ends and blocking
  • Frogging and how to reclaim your yarn
  • Best practices for taking care of your body while knitting
  • Knitting acronyms
  • Ravelry, patterns, references
  • The slow fashion movement
Skills Required:
  • Completion of Beginning Knitting 101 or knowledge of casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and binding off
  • Humor!
  • Persistence!
Materials:
  • US10 (6.0mm) 16" circular needles
  • US10 (10.0mm) DPNS or long circular for magic loop
  • One skein Snefnug by CaMaRose - 120 yards
  • Solid ring stitch markers (need 5 total - 4 in one color and 1 in a contrasting color)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Paper and pencil for note taking
  • Pattern will be provided
