Beginning Crochet 101



Are you looking for a place to begin your journey into the wonders of crochet?  This 3 session class covers the basics you will need to get started with crochet.  Students will learn the fundamentals of crochet; how to chain, single crochet, double crochet and half double crochet, as well how to read simple patterns. Students will receive instruction, washcloth patterns for class projects, and quick tricks to help you learn crochet techniques.

Topics Covered:
  • Yarn and hook selection
  • The anatomy of a hook
  • Useful tools
  • Crochet references
  • Best practices and postures for taking care of your body while crocheting
  • Overview of basic stitches: chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet and half double crochet
  • How to read crochet patterns and charts
  • Changing yarns/colors
  • Edging Options
  • Project finishing, weaving in ends and blocking
Skill Requirements:
  • No prior experience necessary

Materials:
  • Two skeins Queensland Collection Coastal Cotton in Solid Color (or any worsted weight cotton yarn in solid color)
  • Size J hook
  • Locking stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Class minimum - 3 students
If the class minimum is not met, students will be notified prior to the class start date and a full refund will be given.
