Are you ready for sweater knitting?  This class will take you step-by-step from planning to completion of a top down sweater with a yoke construction - a very functional and basic design with clean lines.  It's perfect for a first sweater project, and a staple in anyone's wardrobe.  We will use the well-designed and easy to follow "Simple Sweater" pattern by Tin Can Knits as a guide for this class.  This pattern offers a range of sizes from newborn to adult sizes.  Questions prior to the start of class can be directed to Jacquie at knitsmuch@gmail.com

Skill Requirements

• This is an advanced beginner class. 
• Students should be comfortable with knitting and purling in the round.

Materials List

• Copy of "Simple Sweater" by Alexa Ludeman and Emily Wessel of Tin Can Knits.  Your pattern can be purchased from Ravelry at Acorn Street Shop and the 10% class supplies discount will apply.
• Yarn appropriate for the pattern.  You may use worsted or DK weight yarn for this class.
• Needles appropriate to your chosen pattern.  Actual needle sizes may need to be adjusted depending on your gauge and results of swatching.
• The Knitting Barber Cords - not essential but, very handy when trying on your sweater-in-progress to check fit.  Waste yarn can also be used for the same purpose.
• Solid ring stitch markers
• Darning needle

The first class is for planning and making choices that set you up for success! 
We will cover:

• Choosing a garment size.  If this sweater will be for you and you have a handknit or commercial sweater that you already own, bring it along.  This can be a great template to determine size.
• Completing a swatch that is large enough to give us good information.  Your sweater will be knit in the round.  Your swatch will need to be knit in the round also to determine accurate gauge for a good fitting sweater.
• Tips for accurately measure gauge.
• Any and all of your questions!!!

Homework - PRIOR TO FIRST CLASS

• Purchase "Simple Sweater" pattern by Tin Can Knits.
• Purchase yarn and needles for class.  Please see pattern for yardage and needle sizes for your sweater.
• Need help with these selections?  The staff at Acorn Street Shop are a wealth of information to assist you.
• If possible, measurements for whom the sweater is being knit.

Age minimum - Sixteen years of age
Class minimum - 3 students
If the class minimum is not met, students will be notified prior to the class start date and a full refund will be given
