Beginning Two-Color Brioche



Dive into the world of two-color brioche knitting!  This class is perfect for knitters who know the basics and are ready to explore new techniques.  We will create the Deep Roots Cowl.  In the first week we will explore the unique rhythm and stitches of brioche rib.  The second week will incorporate basic brioche with increases and decreases.  The result?  A small accessory that captivates the eye and hand with striking color contrasts and a reversible, plush texture.

Skills Required:
  Intrepid advanced beginner to intermediate knitter with solid comfort knitting in the round; familiarity with yarn overs and basic increases and decreases will be helpful.

Materials

  • 16 in US #5 (3.75 mm) needles
  • Worsted weight smooth yarn in two colors of yarn with high contrast: 75 yarns of main color and 60 yards of contrast color
  • 10 locking stitch markers
  • "Deep Roots Cowl" pattern will be provided by Jacquie Hubbard in class.

Homework

  • Cast on 135 stitches in main color and join in the round taking care to not twist stitches.  Work in purl 2, knit 1 rib for three rounds, do not cut yarn.
Age minimum - Sixteen years of age
Class minimum - 3 students
If the class minimum is not met, students will be notified prior to the class start date and a full refund will be given.
